Overview
July 19, 2024 – January 20, 2025 (Extended)
Opening Reception: Saturday, July 20, 5.30 – 7 PM

Ethan Cohen Gallery at the KuBe Art Center is pleased to present Emil Alzamora: Irrational Experiments, taking place from July 19 – September 28, 2024.

Emil Alzamora sculpts the human form, distilling it to its purest elements with an almost refined essence. These emotionally charged works, elongated and lacking identifiable human features like eyes, facial expressions, and hair, exist in a realm that is simultaneously anonymous and universally representative. They embody a fusion of modernist and surreal aesthetics while still capturing the zeitgeist of the moment.

Emil Alzamora was born in Lima, Peru, and lives and works in Beacon, NY. His figurative sculpture practice explores notions of transience, beauty, harmony, uncertainty, and hope. Alzamora has exhibited at institutions including the Knoxville Museum of Art, Knoxville, TN; Royal West of England Academy, Bristol, UK; the United Nations Building, New York, NY; and The Queens Museum of Art, New York, NY. Alzamora has shown with various galleries including, Lowell Ryan Projects, Marc Straus Gallery, and Ethan Cohen Gallery. His works have been reviewed and discussed in publications including The New York Times, The Brooklyn Rail, Boston Metro News, Juxtapoz, ArteFuse, Whitehot Magazine, and Cool Hunting.
